Airport Security Shoe Scanners

Standing on a platform while going through security may be all that is soon necessary to scan your shoes. Shoe scanners developed by GE Security (subsidiary of General Electric) are now able to scan your shoes without you taking them off at airports.
These shoe scanning devices are now in use at the Orlando International Airport. This will speed up check-in and help overcrowed airports move people through security checkpoints much faster.
The TSA recently approved these shoe scanners and travelers will start to see them in the upcoming months. It is expected that 20 airports will have them by the end of the year. Airports slotted for the new scanners include: JFK International Airport, San Jose Airport, Louisville Airport and Cincinnati Airport.
One of the latest innovations in airport security is a product named RapiScan Secure which quickly detects explosives, narcotics, ceramic weapons and inorganic materials (metal). Reminiscent of the airport security system seen in Arnold Schwarzenegger's 1990 action movie "Total Recall" where passengers walk through an x-ray passageway,
these systems should make airport security quicker and more effective.
